After spending his first four years with the Indiana Pacers, former recruit, Lance Stephenson, 6’5†Guard just signed a three year deal worth $27 million dollars with the Charlotte Hornets (aka Michael Jordan’s team). Here are Lance’s comment about his new team and kudos to his old team.
Stephenson provided a statement on Twitter:Â

I now have to look to the next phase of my career and the wonderful opportunity to continue to grow as a player and as a person in Charlotte! Alberto Ebanks, a representative of Stephenson, released a statement to The Indianapolis Star, per Candace Buckner:
“Lance is forever grateful for all the love he’s received from Pacers fans. He is especially grateful to his teammates, Frank Vogel, Herb Simon. the Pacers management and, most of all, Larry Bird. While we tried our best to come to the best possible terms for both sides there was not sufficient flexibility in the terms of the contract, particularly the length of the contract. Reports throughout the negotiation process with Indiana have often strayed from the truth but suffice it to say that it was less about the money. Lance will miss the city, the team and the mentor who helped transform him into the dynamic player he has become. He looks forward to making a strong contribution and beginning a new chapter with the Charlotte Hornets.â€

Former Tennessee basketball Scotty Hopson is on the move. Hopson played 14 minutes in the first half of Cleveland’s NBA Summer League game on Friday night in Las Vegas and was informed at halftime that he had been traded to the Charlotte Hornets.
Hopson and cash considerations will go to Charlotte in exchange for center Brendan Haywood and the draft rights to forward Dwight Powell, the 45th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Hopson signed a two-year deal with Cleveland on March 31, 2014 and made $1.35 million last season while appearing in two games for the Cavs, scoring one point and recording a steal and an assist in seven minutes of action. The Kentucky native is scheduled to make $1.45 million this season but the deal is non-guaranteed.
Before signing with Cleveland, Hopson played internationally in Greece (2011-12), Israel (2012-13) and Turkey (2013-14).
Haywood, who missed the entire 2013-14 season due to a stress fracture in his left foot, was awarded to the team on July 14, 2012, off waivers after the Mavericks designated him as their amnesty player. Brooks shot an insane 59 percent overall in the 2014 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas allowing him to put up 11.3 points in only 15.2 minutes per game. He did not force shots or shoot off balance. Brooks just kept his shooting form steady and took what the defense gave him.
